Once you have provided the name and address of the driver or told us that you were the driver, you will, if you are subject to certain criteria, be given the opportunity of attending a speed awareness course.  This offer can be made regardless of the number of points you may have on your licence.  Alternatively you may be given the option of paying a fixed penalty of £100 and receiving 3 penalty points on your driving licence.  These options will only be made after we have an admission of driving.  However, if you were driving at a very high speed or you already have more than 8 penalty points on your driving licence, you will not be able to deal with the matter by paying the fixed penalty and a summons will almost certainly be issued to enable the matter to be dealt with by the court.
