Tallat Raja, 51, from Thornton Heath in Surrey, provided a false name and address to Kent Police after receiving a speeding ticket from the fixed safety camera on Pin Hill, Canterbury.
Rather than pay the £60 and receive 3 penalty points on his driving licence, Mr Raja provided a false name and address. Kent Police were able to track him down using a previous criminal record, DNA intelligence and fingerprints which led to his arrest at his home in June.
Mr Raja received the speeding ticket for travelling at 43mph in a 30mph limit on 12 January 2009. Katherine Barrett, Communications Officer for the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership said: "Safety cameras are installed where there is history of serious speed-related crashes. In this instance there were seven deaths and serious injuries along the stretch of Pin Hill before the camera went in. This court case demonstrates how seriously speeding offences are taken and is a warning to anyone who thinks they can get away with it."
Sentencing Mr Raja, Judge Carey of Maidstone Crown Court said: "It is without question that this offence required a custodial sentence so that it deters other motorists from trying to do the same."
