A huge road safety village will be at this year’s Kent County Show to advise motorists on how to stay safe whilst driving on the county’s roads. On the Fit for the Road? stand visitors will get the chance to test their reaction times, find out where all the safety cameras are, learn about the dangers of drinking and driving and see why wearing a seatbelt could save lives, plus much more.
Road safety professionals from the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership, Medway Council, Kent Police, Kent County Council, Kent Probation Service, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Highways Agency will all be on hand to answer any questions the public might have about our driving.
Visitors to the stand will also have the chance to win one of five iPod Nanos (donated by TNT) when they fill out a short questionnaire.
Su Negus, Senior Road Safety Officer for Medway Council, said: “All the road safety teams across the county are trying to achieve the same thing which is reduce death and serious injury on the county’s roads. We felt it was therefore important to team up and give the public access to everything they want to know about being Fit for the Road in one place.” |
