Once you have provided the name and address of the driver or told us that you were the driver, you will, in most circumstances, be given the opportunity of paying the fixed penalty of £60 and receiving 3 penalty points on your driving licence. This offer will only be made after we have an admission of driving. However, if you were driving at a very high speed or you already have more than 8 penalty points on your driving licence, you will not be able to deal with the matter by paying the fixed penalty and a summons will almost certainly be issued for the matter to be dealt with by the court.
